This game represents a glimpse of the future, as it pits two of the brightest pitching prospects in all of baseball against one another. However we simply must give the nod to Francisco Liriano and the Twins here as he has been the much better pitcher so far THIS year. Liriano has made three starts at the Major League level this season, and he has allowed a TOTAL of ONE run and seven hits in 16 innings over those starts! Granted he has eight walks in those 16 innings, but we could live with that given his 0.56 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in those outings. On the flip side Hernandez has been a major disappointment after taking the league by storm at the tender age of 18 last season. This year he is just 4-6 with a high 5.78 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. The alarming part is that he has not gotten any better, posting a 7.11 ERA over his last three starts. Finally, should this game come down to the bullpens as it probably will, Minnesota holds a huge advantage with a pen ERA of 3.38, compared to 4.51 for Seattle.

I'm riding the arm of southpaw Francisco Liriano on Tuesday. MLB's best pitching prospect takes on a lineup that's just 4-8 at home against lefties, averaging only 3 RPG. Liriano has held the opposition to just 1 ER and 7 hits in 3 starts since May 19. In fact, Twins' opponents have scored just 1 run in each of his starts. If you get the chance, check out this kid's rotation. Not only will he throw a 97 MPH fastball, but he also throws a hard slider and two different change-ups, including a 3-finger change. The Twins are easing him into things. They've allowed him to go just 5, 5, and 6 IP in his 3 starts. But that's okay with us, because the Twins own the league's 4th best bullpen ERA. With Felix Hernandez getting rattled for 20 ER and 37 BR in his last 23 IP, we feel we're getting outstanding value with the visitor. Play the Twins with Liriano on Tuesday.
